The second book is an add on, which includes more stories, which will leave you enjoying the journey.  Jim ends the book with a history lesson of the past one hundred and four years of the Salina Police Department's Chiefs of Police.

Ivey, Badge 44 is a True Crime Story. Written as  a tribute to Officer Jerry Ivey, who gave his life in the line of duty protecting the people of Salina, Kansas.  Jerry is true Hero.

About Gold Badge Writing

My name is Jim Norton. I am an author of true crime stories.

Gold Badge Writing is a collection of books, written by me, which capture my experiences during my career.  The first two books were written to allow the reader into the life of a street cop.  They are titled "The Way it Was....A Cop's story" and "Volume Two. " The calls described are real and range from comical, funny, sad and even terrifying.

My newest project "Ivey, badge 44" encompasses the tragic, true crime biography of a Salina Police Officer's murder, the aftermath and far beyond. This compelling story will open eyes to what happens when a Police Officer loses their life in the line of duty and how a true monster can shatter everything we hold dear.   Ivey, badge 44 is a biographical tribute to the life and death of Salina Kansas, Police Officer Jerry R. Ivey.

Gold Badge Writing and the books found here are the products of retired Police Captain, Jim Norton.  Jim lives in Salina, Kansas, with his wife, Amy and their two dogs, Hanzo and Mabel.

I really enjoyed the book.  I want to thank you for writing his story.  I tried to imagine it from the perspective of someone who doesn't know the story.  It's like something out of a movie plot....Jerry Ivey 11

Very well written, I couldn't put it down....Jerry D.
If you ever wanted to understand what a Cop is all about, Jim tells you in this book.  You will tear up and then laugh out loud....Franz A.
Jim's passion definitely comes through.  Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down...Mark M.

The Way it Was. Vol. 2.

What a great and entertaining read.  Jim gives you a little of everything.  Some fun and enjoyable and some down right dark.  I really enjoyed it...Unkown
Just as in Volume one, I was engrossed and interested.  All the stories were either fascinating or downright enjoyable.  I need the next book...John M.
